Haraldrs inga: ::she didn't get much sleep last night, but that's not going to keep a good bondsmaid down, she'd kept from between her two Jarls and started working to get ready for the day, she'd already helped the other girls clean the kitchen and begin preparing for the feast, giving Comfort a warm caress on her cheek as she passed her, she heads into the main hall with two buckets and a brush to begin scrubbing the floors after the night's revelry, setting the buckets down she kneels beside them, her body free of kirtle, dips the brush into the bucket with the suds and begins scrubbing::
ComfortNPC: It was late indeed when Comfort, who'd returned to finish what she started the night before, got free of the possessive arms of the Jarl enough to wash up and get her hair brushed and put on a clean kirtle. Her Mistress understood, of course, but was still a bit put out, and thus doubly glad that the visiting Jarls from around the villlage had brought their girls. Comfort smiled as she passed Inga and the petting touch to her cheek was returned with a soft backhand to the rump once Inga had passed by, the pot of topsit and wax paste and the polishing cloth carried to start the task of buffing the tables to gleaming
Lady Kessa: The task of setting up the bean-bag toss for the free women fell to Kessa, the wooden frame set against the far wall, a foot or so away. The thin wood shingles were set in random haphazard ways along the grooves. She knew the girls were likely disappointed with having been held back from the morning's bola race, but they'd be able to participate in the evening one.
Haraldrs inga: ::the backhand to her rump was followed by a soft chuckle as she continues to scrub, once she is done with the floors she will replace her kirtle, but it's the finest one she's been given and she doesn't want to soil it before she has a chance to show it off to the guests, she straightens from her scrubbing just long enough to pull back her hair by a strand of twine and continues with her scrubbing, she knows the Mistess of the hall wants things clean, especially as there are guests about, her breasts swaying as she pushes the brush back and forth over the floor, following up with a swipe of clean water on the rep cloth to rinse away suds::
Lady Kessa: The men would no doubt come barreling in with their conquests, feet all muddy and snow-caked and make all that washing up completely moot, but for that moment, the first second the doors opened and they poured in, they'd see clean, smell the bright citrus tang of tospit and the faint kiss of bleach under the soap smell of the water. The tiles arranged, she walked along the edge of the room, so not to track footprints through the wet portion of the floor. "You girls get a treat, for staying and helping." She spoke up loud enough to be heard by everyone in the room, though that consisted of only two girls at the moment, both were diligent in their tasks and had earned it.
Haraldrs inga: ::she turns her head from her task to smile warmly at the Mistress, she liked this Mistress as she treated girls better than most:: thank you Mistress ::she returns to her diligent scrubbing, energized even more now with the promise of a treat, she puts her back further into the scrubbing and rinsing, not even pausing to stretch her back which is still a little sore from the night before, her naked rump still shows the handprint of the enthusiastic Jarl it's a badge she wears with pride. Scrub scrub scrub scrub, rinse rinse rinse rinse rinse, scrub scrub scrub scrub scrub, rinse rinse rinse rinse, she comes to the end of the hall and straightens checking over her work, seeing a spot not to her liking, she returns to the kitchen for a fresh bucket of rinse water and comes back to the spot she's not happy with to redo it, once done, she again straightens and looks at the floor with a critical eye, the floor could use a good polish, so she returns her buckets to the kitchen, pouring the contents of each well away from the kitchen into the snow, her body shivering with the momentary cold, she comes back into the hall and collects a jar of wax to begin waxing the floors so that when the men returns they will find gleaming floors for their muddy boots, hair and breasts swaying with the movements of her arms, she waxes the floors to a high sheen, once completed, she once more stands to survey her work with a nod of satisfaction she returns the wax and cloth to the kitchen, delaying donning her kirtle until she has the Mistress' approval. In the kitchen she begins the task of ensuring each and every piece of eating utensil, plates, goblets, tankards, and bowls are completely free of smudges and dust, the Mistress of the hall keeps things well cleaned and in order, but she wipes everything down with a rep cloth, checking critically for smudges with each wipe, taking up the silver polish she rubs down the silver edges of the horn to a high sheen, carefully replacing them with an edge of a clean rep cloth to keep her fingertips from smudging them, moving to the goblets, she uses the clean rep cloth to wipe away any imaginary smudge or mote of dust. The floors and wax dry, she pulls in an armload of fresh rushes, scattering them along the floor, the sweet smelling plants adding another aroma to the already aromatic aura of the main chamber, she hums lightly as she works recalling the evening before, with a quick glance at Comfort she smiles at her and continues to scatter rushes:
Lady Kessa: The tidyness was impressive. Not that any of the menfolk would likely notice, but the Cosian's might. She had never been to Cos, but she was told they were very much the Southern style of inhumanly pristine opulence. Compared to such places, they had to feel Fehu Isa was very backwater indeed. The only stone floor was here, even in Gedarlaug, the floor was hard-packed earth. But they did not come to visit with their thought to going somewhere just like home, did they? "Come eat." She set out a tray of sliced buttered brown bread with honey, as well as chunks of meat and cheese, and, as promised, a pastry for Comfort and for Inga.
Haraldrs inga: ::she pulls the twine from her hair and dons her kirtle out of respect for the Mistress, her smile going broad as she sees the tray of delicacies, kneeling away from the table on the clean smelling rushes, with a grin she takes up the pastry and closes her eyes as she takes a small bite, savoring the sweetness as it fills her mouth, with a low moan of pleasure she takes another small bite, careful to eat slowly so she will fill up and not gain any weight, her Jarls like her slender but strong::
ComfortNPC: Comfort did as she was bade too, lucky that she was given the freedom to keep what they called a 'love cradle' of softness for the receiving of Jarl loving. She went for the pastry first, since she knew that any moment she might be thrust back into service. She smiled as she chewed, mouth closed, of course, and bowed her head in thanks toward her Mistress, turning to kneel down while she ate. "Inga, is it good to have so many fine Jarls who live with you?" She kept her ears on her new friend and her eye on the door.
Haraldrs inga: ::finishing chewing her bite she smiles at Comfort, a tiny dimple appearing in her cheek, she nods:: aye it is, they keep a girl warm at night ::her eyes sparkle as she speaks:: it is especially good to have the third brother as Jarl ::she looks at Comfort with glowing eyes, a sure sign of her adoration for that brother in particular::
Lady Kessa: Letting the girls finish their dining , the hall cleaned spotless in the absence of those who were out competeing in the contests, she occupied her seat with thin-lipped study of the page before her.
Acheron Sinis: Papo did not compete with the others. No one of his caste even competed against warriors or the common men. It was simply not done. He walked into the hall, having left another man to guard Elise. His cloak was hung to the peg by the door and he headed to one of the tables close to the center fire.
Lady Kessa: Looking up at him as he entered, the tread of his feet crushing the scattered rushes as he moved. "No luck in the bondmaid catching?" She chuckled."Or are you simply waiting for them to come to you?" A glance to Comfort who had stuffed the last of her lunch in her mouth and nearly swallowed it whole when he had walked in, and even now was slinking to him unapologetic for having been absent from making breakfast that morning.
Acheron Sinis: He looked to Kessa with a smile.."Well...Tal to you too..." he smirked as he sat down.."Assassins do not compete or join in on festivities.."He then grinned and winked to Comfort..."Tea...With honey."
Lady Kessa: "Oh, is that so? Hmm. Learn something new every day." She chuckled under her breath. Comfort was crouched by him, hands tucked behind her back. Swift to rise she tossed her hair and with bounce in her step, she scampered past to the kitchen to get it.
Acheron Sinis: He smiled looking back to Kessa..
Lady Kessa: "Is it a ...caste thing or just personal choice?" Looking at Papo with interest. She suspected that assassins needed to keep that air of mystery and dangerousness that would be completely crushed by sport in public.
Acheron Sinis: "Caste.." He was honest about it...and she assumed right.
Lady Kessa:"Ah. I've never had one." She chuckled. "I had considered applying to the caste of Scribes but... I do not need a caste in a society based on that of the North, and I don't like women telling me what to do." a glint sparking in her hazel eyes as she hinted to what he already knew. She liked having men telling her what to do.
Acheron Sinis: He smiled as he listened to her..."The north need no caste designations anyway." He shifted to sit comfortably as he spoke with her. "..And I do not think the Assassins Caste is the most ideal choice for a woman anyway."
Lady Kessa: "Not for this one. Even born to it I would make a terrible assassin." She laughed again, shaking her head, hands folded over the stack of papers. "I have a hard time dealing with killing urts. I doubt I could be cold enough to kill a man. Not that you are cold, Papo, Sir, but... there must be, I think, some part of you that cannot feel pity or remorse, and that place is where you must go when you ...deal in your caste's business. I have found you a warm and good friend, a fine father, a loving companion to your lady, so I must believe you are not wholly heartless."
Acheron Sinis: Papo had done a damned good job turning his daughter away from the Black Caste. At first, she romanticized the caste. Placing it in a realm of exciting mystery and above that of other noble castes. "Not wholly. Only when I must." It wasn't until Ele had seen how Assassins killed...How completely emotionless they were, taking no pity at all...And thinking nothing of their deed when it was done. It frightened Ele. Frightened her no less to Papo's complete satisfaction. Ele turned to the healer's caste. The opposire realm entirely. He took away lifes. She saved them.
Lady Kessa: "As I hoped." She chuckled softly, then sobered a bit. "And have you been caring well for Lady Elise? I am told you are one of those who watch over her. I have, I admit, remained distant for a number of reasons, the smallest of reasons being this festival." The others were more personal. She knew she would be kind and sweet and forgiving to the girl if she were allowed to be, and so she refrained, simply to spare the girl that specific comforting reassurance.
Acheron Sinis: He sipped to the tea that Comfort had fetched for him as he listened to Kessa. "She eats well...Three times a day...Has plenty to drink. She is allowed to sponge bath. I have also allowed a change of clothes to her."
Lady Kessa: Nodding, she swallowed softly. "It is ...good she is not being mistreated. She was foolish, but I do not think that earns suffering." She did not know what would happen when the judgement was passed down upon her, but she would not argue with it, whatever it might be. Too harsh and she might, being a tender thing, plead for mercy for the woman in private with her companion, but never would she argue with him in public.
Acheron Sinis: Papo was not by nature a cruel man. He had performed the tasks of jailer, executioner, commanding city elite guards. He treated all fairly unless they deserved otherwise. He would though, becoming emotionally detached when the time arised for Elise's judgement. He was already instructed on his tasks when it was time to escort her to the hall for judgement.
Lady Kessa: Sighing, she let her chin come to rest on her palm. "I do not think the Cosian's are coming." She had seen no sign of them at all last night, and no keen-eyed scout had reported from the docks that ships had been spotted. "I am terribly disappointed in them. Yet, I am not surprised. Is that cruel to say?"
Acheron Sinis: "Fuck em.." he said cooly. He smirked as he looked to her.
Lady Kessa: A soft gasp of shock preceded a smirk and she rolled her eyes. "Ever the master of brevity, Papo." Rising from her seat, her expanding profile making this something that now required a bit of leverage on the table to keep from losing her balance.
Acheron Sinis: He chuckled softly as he lifted that mug of tea to sip.
Lady Kessa: "Though I do not think to take your advice literally, for I hear from Tempest that the Administrator of Cos is ... not enviable as far as men go." It might have been sour grapes, or merely fury at being given off without warning which has made the girl say such a thing, but.. .whether it was true or not, Kessa likely would never know, thankfully.
Acheron Sinis: "I would think not.." he smirked..."After all...You're a respectable woman now.."
Lady Kessa: "I try to be, Papo." She stepped closer, weaving her fingers across her belly. "And know that you are held it much higher esteem here than the Administrator of Cos in that regard." A glance to Comfort. "Much higher." The girl had the good sense to look down and hide her smile.
Acheron Sinis: He smiled as he looked to her. What an insult that must had been for the Administrator of Cos...To be placed below that of an Assassin.
Lady Kessa: Rolling her eyes she cast the whole of her attention back to Papo. "I should tend to the archery range. No doubt the brothers of the lady in custody will win, simply by the math of sheer numbers. Though you are not one to participate, would you care to walk with me?"
Acheron Sinis: "I would be honored.."
Franz Castellan: ::he came in from the training grounds, he had been pushing his men hard for the last few hands and he came in carrying his own axe and shield. it had blood on it but he would never say whose it was, they had been hunting down some of the outlaws in the forest on kailla that he had not paid to work for him::
Acheron Sinis: He stood and walked over to her...Offer out his had to the direction to the door and their cloaks.
Franz Castellan: ::he carried it behind his shield discreetly as he could to his room , he would clean it later::
Lady Kessa: She nodded, and would head to the pegs to take down her cloak and muff. Pausing when Franz walked in, her smile faded at the sight of Franz, specifically the blood. "Franz... what has happened!?"
Acheron Sinis: He took looked to Franz...Watching him as he past right by he and Kessa.
Franz Castellan: I will..be back in a tick ::and he wandered into his room and placed the axe down and shield::
Acheron Sinis: He nodded.
Lady Kessa: "Of course." She bowed her head and then worked with fingers suddenly nervous to fix her cloak's clasp. She pulled her hood up over the intricacy of her hair's braiding and settled its fur-lined edge on her forehead.
Franz Castellan: Changed into some fresh clothes he walked back out with a smile on his face:: I was...culling the outlaws::he put it bluntly then::and besides it was good practice for the men for later:: Anyway::he grinned and moved to Kessa to kiss her on the forehead before moving over to his seat::
Acheron Sinis: "We're heading out to the target range.."
Franz Castellan: Ah you are?
Lady Kessa:Tucking her hands into her muff she cut a look of worry toward Papo, then to Franz when he returned with explanation she frowned a bit. Not at him, but the situation. Closing her eyes at the kiss, she visibly relaxed and smiled.
Acheron Sinis: He smiled with a nod.."I have the pleasure of escorting your lady...Unless she has changed her mind to stay and tend to you."
Franz Castellan: No no it's fine. Go ahead. I will come and watch
Acheron Sinis: He smiled with a nod.."We will wait for you.."
Lady Kessa: Stepping out the door, she fully intended to hear the story of what he'd been doing that afternoon, but she would not press him now. Outside, the cool air biting at her exposed face, but the rest of her was well covered and she'd hardly feel it. She remained on the covered portion of the walkway, looking toward the docks again, then toward the archery range which Franz and Papo had seen were made hands ago.
