Due to some personal issues I will be taking a break from Fehu Isa for a bit.
Thank you for your patience. If you need anything done that only I can do, (fix something on the website for instance) drop me a mail and I'll get round to it.

Aaaand. back.
Sorry folks, emotional issues, sickness in the family and my own sinusitis which I am still fighting had me too down to play, and too tired and cranky to be around people who aren't legally obligated by marriage or birth to put up with me. lol.

*sigh*
And the saga continues.
The sickness in my family switched kids, but raged on. My sinusitis began to abate, though I was still stuffy and feverish and icky feeling and ... a new symptom...had some weird rash on my leg.
My husband, who had been hunting, had a rash in his armpit, and since my ankle and his pits don't hang out together often... I chalked my puffy rashy ankle up to the following scenario. Perhaps, I thought, he had gotten into some poison oak, or ivy while hunting, and while wading through the shin-high pile of laundry that was stacked up from my sick spell, (Can NO ONE do laundry but me?) I had rubbed up against the shirt/undershirt/vest which had caused his outbreak.
The next morning, it was blotchy, swollen, sore and hot and what had been a little ruddy spot was now all the way across my ankle about four inches high. I called the doctor. This was Tuesday, late morning. Earliest appoinment was three days away but the lady at the desk says 'you can see the nurse practicioner tomorrow at 10 am'. So... I say 'fine' and still a little sniffly, keep drinking lots of water and taking my meds to drive off the body aches and 101 temp., limping to the bathroom with a sore puffy ankle every 10 freakin' minutes it seems because I'm drinking nine bajillion gallons of water!
Wed. I go to the N.P. I didn't know what Cellulitis was then, but buddy-hey-howdy do I know now! It's nasty, and if you want to get horribly grossed out... look it up. Clean version is, it's an infection of the soft tissues. N.P. gave me a prescription for Levaquin and told me to elevate it and apply moist heat. So, I go home, take a pill, and lie down with my foot up.
I wake up three hours later, and have to wee, so I swing my foot off the side of the bed, and nearly pass out. I have had two cesareans, and I have NEVER had pain like this. The red had moved up to the middle of my calf, my ankle was 10 inches around, and I could barely walk. With help, I got to the loo and by the time I was done, my leg felt a little better and I just chalked it up to one of those 'when the antibiotics begin to beat up the icky germs in the war for making you better, your body is a battleground and the icky germs don't go without a fight... ' thing I'd always been told when growing up. (blame my mom.) I keep following the proverbial 'doctor's orders' and put my ankle up, warm wet heat. It's not getting better, it's getting worse. I have my husband look up cellulitus on the internet, (frankly to see if you can DIE from it) and he tells me that of the 9 sites he checked, not ONE says 'wet heat' That a few say 'cold compresses to relieve swelling' but not ONE says heat.
So, in the spirit of 'well, she's not actually a DOCTOR' I stopped the hot compresses and took some ibuprofin with a large glass of water, then slept. And woke up to go wee... more water... wee... more blinkin' water... and so on all night. The swelling went down a bit, it's still horribly ugly and puffy and painful (imagine the swelling purpled bruise-like look of a broken ankle combined with the skin-aching heat of a bad second degree sunburn and that's about right.)
And that brings us to now. My cellulitis is still making my leg hurt, but the elevation and antibiotics are helping HEAPS,(and the Levaquin is also clearing up the last of my sinusitis as well, so bonus). It may be another week or so (While I'm finishing off the Levaquin) before I am back 100 percent, but I'm trying. If you don't see me as much as you'd wish, I'm sorry.

Aaand... on it goes. Even as I type, I'm searching for the scissors to cut off the admission wristbands from my lovely stay in the hospital!
Great place to spend my birthday. It's MRSA. A very virilent form of staph that is ravaging my leg. So... while I'm home, I'm pretty much disallowed from spending too much time online until I'm healed up.
So... see you when I see you.
